Meet the team

Jason Freedman
Partner

Jason has run 4 startups with 3 exits.  His first startup FlightCaster, a big data and machine learning company, was in one of the earliest Y Combinator batches and exited in 2009.  His second company RedisToGO was a developer Tools company that sold in 2012.  Next he built 42Floors, a commercial real estate search engine that sold to Knotel in 2018, where he stayed as CTO.

Jason is now an operator-investor, splitting his time between investing at Peak State where he’s led investments in Mosaic, Ironclad, Snapdocs, Mighty Buildings, Sonder, and more and hacking away at a new developer tool startup called Changebase.

Jason is a 2x alumnus of Y Combinator and holds a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and an MBA from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business.

Bryan Ciambella
Partner

Bryan is a former entrepreneur with 2 venture-backed exits, Amped Fantasy and WCPP, and founded Hello Fresh in the US, the largest global meal kit eCommerce company, for Rocket Internet. There, he led the hiring of the first US-based employees, operations setup and managed business development (IPO). Bryan also spent time investing in IAC (portfolio companies include Tinder and Vimeo) and B Capital (iCertis, Evidation Health)

Omri Barzilay
Principal

Omri spent the past 7 years as an entrepreneur and investor. He previously founded Propcy, a ML investment platform for real estate and the Migdalor Foundation, The Israeli Naval Academy Alumni Association. Additionally he wrote for publications like Forbes and TechCrunch. Prior to that Omri was an algorithmic trader and also spent 7 years as a Missile Ship Chief Engineer in the Israeli Navy. Omri holds an MBA from Tel Aviv’s Recanati’s School of Business Cum Laude

Rajit Malhotra
Venture Partner

Rajit is a co-founder and board member of Shantha Biotech, sold to Sanofi-Aventis for $850m. He has been closely involved with over 20 startups over his career. He is on the board of the UCLA Technology Development Group and Bel Air Chapter of YPO and is a former Managing PArtner of McKinsey’s SoCal Practice. Rajit holds MBA from Kellogg and MPA from Harvard

Seva Zakharov
Partner

Seva works on early and growth stage investments across all verticals of Peak State Ventures focus. Prior to Peak State Ventures he developed corporate strategy for Apttus and Severstal and worked as an analyst at Citigroup. He holds an MBA from INSEAD

George Cigale
Venture Partner

George founded Tutor.com and served as its CEO until it was acquired by IAC in 2013. Under George’s leadership, Tutor.com became the leading provider of on-demand instructional solutions for students and professionals. George has since served as a Board Director, investor, or advisor to dozens of early stage and growth companies in software, learning technology, and health, and to educational and cultural institutions. He currently serves as a Director or Trustee on the Boards of Columbia University Teachers College, The Wild Center, and Higher Ground Education
